The Essence of Life
The E.S. model could also be explained by the scientific paper called “The Wisdom of Connection”, published by Dr. Gary E. R. Schwartz – Professor of psychology and psychiatry at Yale University from mid seventies to late eighties. In his work, Dr. Schwartz explained the complex system of bio feedback in our bodies and he even went to assign the same processes to every element in the universe. His work was inspired by Harvard professor – Dr. Walter B. Cannon and his classic book “The Wisdom of the Body”.
Every element in our universe from large, small, simple or complex must have free information flow and energy circulation from within in order to remain whole and most importantly evolve into its greater forms. In his work, Dr. Schwartz and his colleagues have proposed that there are five steps to achieving wholeness and health: attention, connection, self-regulation, order and ease. They have explained that voluntary attention is experiencing the energy flow in your body and between your body and your environment. This awareness whether it is at conscious or unconscious level (experiencing energy and information circulation in your body) promotes connection - not only within your body, but also between your body and your environment. Connection enables self-regulation. As your body is very sophisticated biological system, the full connection will allow for proper self control at a cellular level. Self-regulation will in turn promote order. This is created by the feeling of wholeness, fulfilment and internal beauty, which was made possible by organisational powers of connections allowing self-regulation. In those circumstances, the order is achieved with ease. When everything is connected properly and every cell in the body is allowed to express itself correctly, the self-regulation process can take place effortlessly. The process of health and wellness flows freely.
Dr. Schwartz has also stated that reverse of this order is true and that there are also five steps to achieving disintegration and disease: disattention, disconnection, disregulation, disorder and disease. In other words, if you disattend your body (ignore its basic needs and flow of energy/information) it will create a disconnection within your body and between your body and your environment, thus promoting disregulation in the body, which will be expressed as a system disorder and will be experienced as a disease.
In order to improve your overall health and well-being, you must first understand your own biological make up of mind and body, which is powered by your conscious (spirit).
Spirit is Consciousness, Personality and Energy which powers your body and makes you who and what you are in the material world. It is also eternal, thinking, endless, timeless energy (formless substance) that imbues and permeates all living beings, matter, non-matter, physical (consciously known) and meta-physical (unconsciously known) universe – which is our home. Although, every living/non living form is intrinsically different in a form, shape, biological and chemical make-up, we all share the same “life’s engine – the spirit”. Which is a trans-universal supreme energy of knowledge, life and everlasting re-creation, plainly known as “God” or in spiritual terms: “the eternal peace and heaven that resides from within”.
It is also widely accepted in spiritual terms (New Thought) that the whole universe exists as one entity, consisted of almost unlimited versions of itself that recreates the life and everything we know on a quantum plane. Such universal energy constantly circulates, pulsates and continually re-creates on a quantum fraction of time/space everything we experience consciously and unconsciously. It is therefore fair to assume that everything forms part of a never-ending loop of life’s energy.
Mind is the primal knowledge engraved in your DNA, which was created the moment you were conceived or in other words, every cell in your body has knowledge and together they create the collective conscious (driven by spirit/energy/information) which we commonly refer to as Mind. This sophisticated bio-chemical process of constant evolution is controlled by the spirit through brain (most molecularly dense organ in your body). It also facilitates your consciousness, thought, perception, memory and all unconscious cognitive processes. The conscious side of the mind has three important parts related to decision making, which influences the quality of your life: Logic, Intuition and Emotions.
Human body is the neuro-physiological vessel that houses mind and spirit. It is the physical form in which your spirit (you) experiences the sensation of life in the material world.
